The European Union – Kazakhstan Sustainable Energy Days is part of the broader European Union – Central Asia Sustainable Energy Days (SEDs) campaign.  The implementer of the SEDs campaign is the European Union (EU) funded project “Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia” (SECCA).

SEDs has become the EU’s signature initiative across Central Asia (CA) to enhance awareness about the significance and benefits of sustainable energy, the relationship between energy and climate change, as well as to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency, and contribute to the implementation of climate-neutral solutions for people, businesses and industries.

SEDs represent a global edition of EU Sustainable Energy Week, the largest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe, initiated in 2007 by the European Commission. The first SEDs campaign in Kazakhstan was held in 2023 in Astana.

In 2024, the EU-Kazakhstan SEDs events target energy experts, policy makers, representatives of civil society, businesses and youth (university students).

The main components of the campaign at and involving Karaganda Industrial University were as follows: Lectures on sustainable energy for teachers and students, Students’ debate on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, Award Ceremony.
