Sustainable energy plays a pivotal role in Global Gateway, the European Union’s (EU) new strategy to build more resilient, clean and secure connections with the world. The deployment of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) solutions is a key part of this endeavour. Investing in EE and RE is also a prerequisite for meeting the objectives of the Paris Agreement. The EU is strongly committed in this regard and work closely with its Central Asian partners to accelerate the just energy transition.

To raise awareness about EE, RE, and the relationship between energy and climate change, the EU and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan (MEWR) organised the EU ̶ Tajikistan Sustainable Energy Days 2023 (SEDs).

In the context of SEDs, the International Conference “Energy Efficiency in Tajikistan: prospects and challenges” was organised jointly by the MEWR and the EU. It gathered national stakeholders, energy policymakers and professionals, representatives academia and civil society, international organisations, and IFIs.
